Word Alive #1: Render unto Caesar

Render unto Caesar
"Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
Jesus saw through their duplicity and said to them,
"Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?"
"Caesar’s," they replied.
He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s." Luke 20
There are two areas of challenge
1. First, We are challenged to Honour those whom God has placed over us in secular Government.
Paul at least says pray for such Governments
"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.:
What does it mean for us to "Render unto Caesar" today ?
2. Second, we are challenged render unto God what is God's
Caesar 's image was on the denarius, God's image is on us

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
What does giving yourself to God look like in your situation ?
Try this prayer for size
Father, We offer ourselves to you as a living
sacrifice through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Send us out in the power of Spirit
to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen
Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto God what is God's
Keep the Word alive
